France has more than a thousand museums labeled “Museums of France”, seven national operas including five in the region plus a considerable number of other operas and concert halls where regularly perform well-known artists. In summer many music festivals present attractive programs in original places: Orange and its Choregies, Aix en Provence and Opera Festival, La Roque d’Antéron and its piano festival, Jazz in Marciac or Jazz in Vienna are among the best known. As for the regional festivals they are addressed to a public of proximity and constitute for the visitor besides, an immersion in the local context

Organized by major museums in Paris and in the regions, they are often the very purpose of a trip or can be visited during a visit to a regional metropolis: Lyon, Grenoble, Marseille, Aix en Provence but also Metz and the Pompidou museum, Lens and the Louvre museum, Bordeaux and the Cité du Vin are among others at the heart of cultural and artistic news.
