The Auvergne

The landscapes of the Auvergne tell the story of the volcanoes: these mountains, with their forms rounded off with time, form a wonderful frame for the richly decorated Romanesque churches, witnesses of the pilgrimage. The lush green pastures, which are often lined with lakes, are home to herds of cows that produce the famous Saint Nectaire and other less well-known but equally tasty cheeses.
